Look for the smiling street food vendor

Its no secret that I love street food. For me this is one of the most exciting things about travelling. I want to eat food that has been cooked by somebody, someone I can see and perhaps talk with, someone who beams pride and passion for what he or she have created.

Though when travelling, eating just anywhere can be perilous… so I have two rules that I learnt from Anthony Bourdain and one personal rule

1) Look for the smiling vendor – generally if they’re smiling and happy, they’ll be proud and passionate about their food and more often than not… its good!

2) Follow the locals – too many tourists is generally a bad sign, but a healthy balance or even exclusively locals can be, in the most part, very very good

3) Avoid the places that tout you in – they’re either over-priced, poor quality or both.
