Steamed Figs with Honey Miso
The other day I was in the local greengrocer and saw some lovely figs so thought I’d get a couple for a post-dinner snack. I decided to make steamed figs in a honey miso sauce… after its done you get the warm comforting softness of the fig, the rich sweetness balanced and enhanced by the honey miso sauce.
This receipe is for 2 figs – so what do you need to do?:
Honey Miso Sauce:
- 1 tbsp Shiro Miso
- 1 tbsp Mirin
- 1 tsp Muscovado Sugar
- 2 tsp Honey
- Mix well
Figs
- Put each fig into its own bowl
- Steam the figs for 20 mins in a bamboo steamer
- Remove from the steamer
- Divide the sauce into 2 parts – 1 part used per fig
- Top with a little sesame seeds
- Eat
- Drool
Enjoy… let me know what you think
