Why I hear you ask?
It was the outstanding service, the personal touches and everything about this wonderful boutique hotel that made me ‘throw my toys out of the pram’ when we had to check out as I really did not want to leave, even though we were going on to Bali next. I turned into a petulant child. I rarely say this about hotels I’ve stayed in but this is an exception, as it was really good.
I stayed 3 nights with my wife a couple of weeks back when we were in Singapore. Naumi is a lovely boutique hotel just behind the Raffles hotel so is very centrally located and about 5 mins walk to the City Hall MRT. I love the hotels’ facade and its quirky interior design.
When we arrived early morning, my wife was not feeling too well, and the hotel did everything they could to get us a room quickly so she could rest. We were made to feel so welcome by the staff especially by Lizette, Paul and Shuga (not sure if I have spelt his name right) and a couple of others who were on the night shift.
We had the bottom of the range room, but it was great. The bed was huge and so comfortable, large wide screen tv, ipod dock, free soft drinks in the mini bar (yes FREE), free local calls, a nespresso coffee machine, good quality teas, a great and powerful rain shower, a yoga mat and much much more in the room. You can even ask them to borrow an XBOX or PS3. And now, from reading their twitter feed, they are even using an iPad as a service interface with guests!
I particularly loved the infinity pool at the top which offers great views of the singapore city skyline in all directions. Most of the time we had the pool area to ourselves and was a great place to lounge during the day or even at night after a huge meal, looking at the night view of the city. Breakfast was good too and everyday is a champagne breakfast day, which is included.
All in all it was a great place for my wife an I to have some quality time together and base ourselves on our epic food adventure.
The Naumi is a good example of why I like smaller, quieter, more intimate hotels as opposed to large ‘cattle ranch’ like resorts; the staff are nicer, the rooms are better, the service is second to none and the food is far better than a larger hotel’s buffet trough.
Just up the road from the hotel when you turn right out of the hotel are some good local restaurants where you can eat some really good Chicken Rice for SGD 3.50 or Mee Goreng for SGD 1.20.
If you are passing through Singapore.. I recommend staying at this hotel… you’ll love it.
