I was attending a course at the Park Plaza Riverbank where this restaurant lives. I had lunch once and dinner once here. I really don’t know what all the fuss is about. There are much much better places in London. I don’t like writing bad reviews, I’d much prefer not to write anything… but I detest bad and rude service….
The waiting staff are a rude and arrogant. One hand doesn’t seem to know what the other is doing. The service is slow, and it seemed like none of the service staff want to do any work, except stand around and chat whilst looking at you.
The food was at best ‘ok’ but the portions were pretty stingy. I ordered the sashimi set. When I asked what fish was in it – the waitress did not know. When it arrived, there were three pieces each of tuna, salmon and sea bream, served on a large bowl of ice with kisami wasabi. It looked impressive. Sadly, the fish was not fresh and the salmon and the sea bream had a strong fishy odour and after taste, even after the soy and wasabi! The seared salmon nigiri sushi was good though it did taste a little of butane from the blowtorch. The tempura was very greasy. The inside out rolls coated in sesame, were good though I can’t remember what the filling was – so obviously it didn’t catch my attention. The sake I ordered turned up half way through my meal. Not great – especially when you are stung for around £30 for that.
The next day for lunch, I ordered the grilled chicken baguette, which at £7.95 was actually pretty good, though the service was diabolical.
I don’t really understand why certain restaurants act like the world owes them something.
Would I go back – never out of choice.
